Newquay's eleven natural, sandy beaches give visitors an unrivalled choice with the opportunity to surf, swim, explore and build grand sand designs.

Wide stretches of golden sand sheltered by tufty dunes like Crantock, Watergate Bay and Mawgan Porth are a paradise for families. Smaller coves, like Whipsiderry, offer a little more seclusion or the chance to wander a stretch of the coastal path. Others like the Gannel might not be ideal for swimming due to the currents, but are a treat for naturalists, and of course there’s the magnificent Fistral Beach, world famous for hosting national and international surfing championships.

Privately owned or public, easily accessible or a little more remote, sand, rock pools, caves, smugglers, fishing boats, ferries, pilgrims, islands, deckchairs and beach huts – the perfect beach experience for everyone can be found here.

Many of the beaches allow dogs, many have refreshments and toilet facilities, some are on local bus routes and some have disabled access. Visit www.newquay.co.uk/beaches for more detail about each of the eleven beaches including safety tips.
